General Campbell is commanding general of the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command and commander of the Joint Functional Component Command - Integrated Missile Defense. Campbell's previous assignments include chief of staff, United States Strategic Command; director of plans, United States Space Command; deputy commanding general, United States Army Air Defense Artillery Center; commanding general, 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command; assistant deputy chief of staff for Combat Developments, United States Army Training and Doctrine Command. Campbell earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Worcester State College and a master’s degree in personnel management from the University of New Hampshire.
