Industry Speakers Confirmed for Strategic Space Symposium

OMAHA, Neb./COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 26, 2009) - The first wave of industry speakers has been confirmed for the Strategic Space Symposium, jointly sponsored by USSTRATCOM and the Space Foundation Nov. 2 - 4 at the Qwest Center Omaha in Omaha, Neb.

Industry Perspective Panel
High-level industry leaders will participate in the Industry Perspective panel on Nov. 4, which will discuss the issues, opportunities, and strategic direction of the suppliers, contractors, and consultants that serve national security and tactical warfighter operations.

Confirmed participants include:

  • Wanda Austin, Ph.D., president and chief executive officer, The Aerospace Corporation, who will moderate the panel
  • Rick Ambrose, general manager, Surveillance & Navigation, Lockheed Martin
  • David M. DiCarlo, Ph.D., sector vice president and general manager, Space Systems Division, Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems
  • Jon C. Jones, vice president, Raytheon Company, and president, Space and Airborne Systems
  • Brig. Gen. Robert T. "Tip" Osterthaler, USAF (Retired), president and chief executive officer, AMERICOM Government Services

Industry Participation in Breakout Sessions
William Schuster, president and chief operating officer, GeoEye, will lead the International Data Sharing Challenges breakout sessions and David A. Anhalt, senior director, Advanced Programs, Orbital Sciences Corporation, will lead the Dedicated Military Payloads on Commercial Satellites breakout sessions.  Both are part of the Policy/Strategy Challenges to Implementing Data Sharing track.

A special feature of the Symposium, the track sessions and associated breakouts will allow attendees to participate in in-depth conversations about critical issues and, as appropriate, to make recommendations and offer solutions. These sessions are primarily led by military leaders, but some will be coordinated by industry executives.
